PS Isaboke reaffirms commitment to prudent use of public resources

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Tele communications Stephen Isaboke (pictured) has outlined measures the State Department is implementing to strengthen asset management and enhance accountability in the use of public resources.

Speaking before the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Isaboke responded to queries raised in the Auditor-General’s reports for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial years during a routine review of the department’s financial records.

The PS said the State Depart ment has introduced reforms to modernise asset tracking systems, harmonise property records across government ministries, and strengthen internal controls to enhance transparency and efficiency.  

He assured the committee that the measures are aimed at ensuring prudent management of public assets while addressing long-standing administrative challenges. 

Committee members sought clarification on inter-agency coordination in land realignments and the status of public properties under the department’s mandate.

Isaboke reaffirmed the State Department’s commitment to accountability and prudent stewardship of public resources, noting that governance reforms remain central to its mandate as it advances initiatives in the broadcasting and telecommunications sector.

The Public Accounts Commit tee is mandated to examine the audited accounts of government ministries, departments, and agencies and make recommen dations to strengthen financial oversight and accountability across the public sector.
